Raising of age limit for senior discounts from 65 to 67 years on 1 July 2022
From 1 July 2022, the age limit for qualifying for a senior discount is being raised from 65 to 67 years when travelling by public transport. The change is being introduced for all rail and public transport companies in Denmark to align with the current age limit for the Danish state pension, which is revised at regular intervals.
In step with the increase in the state pension age, the guidelines for senior discounts when travelling by public transport are also being revised.
It applies to the following tickets:
- Transit tickets
- Rejsekort with customer type ‘Pensioner’
- Multi-trip tickets
- Pensionistkort (senior card)
If you are already using a ticket type with a senior discount because you are 65 years old, you can continue to do so – also after 1 July 2022, even though you are not yet 67.
If you receive a disability pension or senior pension, you will not be affected in any way.

You can buy tickets with a senior discount up until 30 June 2022. If you do so, you can still buy tickets with a senior discount after 1 July 2022 when the new age limit enters into force.
If you receive a disability pension or senior pension, the new age limit will not affect you in any way.
If you are already using a ticket type with a senior discount because you are 65 years old, you can continue to do so – also after 1 July 2022, even though you are not yet 67.

Pensionistkort (senior card)/Transit ticket with senior discount
After 1 July 2022, you must be 67 years old to buy a Pensionistkort (senior card) or a transit ticket with customer type ‘Pensioner’.
If you are under 67and already have or have had a Pensionistkort (senior card) or transit ticket with a senior discount, you can still renew your card/ticket with a senior discount. Thus, the change will not affect you in any way.
Rejsekort with customer type ‘Pensioner’
After 1 July 2022, you must be 67 years old to buy a Rejsekort with customer type ‘Pensioner’.
If you have completed an order form before 1 July 2022, you will be issued with a Rejsekort with customer type ‘Pensioner’, even if Rejsekort does not receive your order form until after this date.
If you are under 67 and already have or have had a Rejsekort with customer type ‘Pensioner’, you are still able to renew your Rejsekort with a senior discount. Thus, the change will not affect you in any way.
Multi-trip ticket with senior discount
After 1 July 2022, you must be 67 years old to buy a multi-trip ticket with a senior discount.
If you are under 67 and already have or have had a multi-trip ticket with senior discount, you are still able to purchase a multi-trip ticket with a senior discount. Thus, the change will not affect you in any way.
