Customer enquiries via Facebook: Information about our specific processing of your personal data

Midttrafik follows the guidelines of the Data Protection Authority concerning the data responsibility it shares with Facebook, and Midttrafik endeavours, using the tools available, to ensure in the best possible way that you receive information on how your personal information is processed before you visit our Facebook page. Together with other public authorities and businesses, we seek to enter into regular dialogue with Facebook on the regulation of our joint data responsibility and the division of responsibility. Midttrafik has sought to enter into an agreement on joint data responsibility with Facebook on the division of responsibility for the information which customers/citizens enter via Midttrafik’s Facebook page.

When and how do we collect your information?
When you contact us via our Facebook page or via Messenger

What type of information about you is processed?
Midttrafik has decided to limit its use of Facebook so that it only receives simple enquiries containing the minimum of ordinary personal data, for example name and questions about our traffic services. Consequently, in Facebook Messenger we encourage our customers or visitors not to send private information to us. Instead, we refer them to Midttrafik’s webform.

In addition, Midttrafik has published this info text for our Facebook page, so visitors are aware that information is collected by Facebook when visiting and using Midttrafik’s Facebook page.
We receive your name, contact details and any personal information that you submit. Midttrafik is therefore able to process information about the fact that you:

  • like our Facebook page
  • comment on or share our posts
  • have visited our Facebook page
  • contact us via Messenger

Facebook uses Facebook Insights on our Facebook page to collect statistical data on visitors’ behaviour. It is possible to read how Facebook processes your information in Facebook’s privacy policy and cookie policy.

What do we use the information for?
We process your information so that we, in our capacity as a transport company, can provide the best service in relation to our transport services and communicate with our customers on a suitable platform. Facebook processes your information, among other things to improve its advertising system and to gather statistics on consumer behaviour.

What is the legal basis?
The information collected is processed for the purpose of the exercise of the official authority vested in us as the provider of transport services in our capacity as a transport company. Our processing of the information is therefore authorised under Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation. Facebook collects information in order to pursue its legitimate interests according to Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation, and after having obtained your consent according to Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Are there other recipients of this information?
We share your information with our data processor Falcon.io, but we never share your information with others. Facebook’s contact details are: Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 GRAND CANAL SQUARE, GRAND CANAL HARBOUR, D2 Dublin, IRELAND, CVR number: 462932. Facebook can, among other things, share information with Facebook’s partners, advertisers, measurement partners and researchers. Facebook can transfer your information to Facebook in the USA. Here, Facebook is certified under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield scheme.

How long do we keep your information for?
We store your information for the current month plus 11 months. Facebook places cookies on your hardware when you visit our Facebook page. These cookies contain unique ID codes which remain active for up to two years unless they are deleted beforehand.
