Baggage

You can take personal baggage, provided it does not inconvenience or pose a danger to other passengers, that it does not dirty or damage the bus or Letbanen, that there is space for it, and that it does not inconvenience boarding/disembarkation. It is up to the driver to decide whether you can take your baggage on the bus.

Special rules on transport of fireworks on Midttrafik’s buses, Letbanen and Midtjyske Jernbaner trains.

You may carry fireworks containing max. 0.5 kg of explosives (NEQ). Of course, you can only transport fireworks that are legally on sale in the shops, and only fireworks in their original packaging for retail use, and provided the fireworks are handled responsibly during the trip.

Check the fireworks to see how much explosive they contain (NEQ).

The driver can refuse entry to bus passengers carrying too many fireworks.

Prams, folding pushchairs and mobility walkers

You may take a pram, pushchair or mobility walker with you on the bus, Letbanen or Midtjyske Jernbaner trains free of charge, provided there is space, and provided it does not interfere with boarding/disembarkation.

You take prams etc. with you at your own risk. The wheels of the pram/pushchair must be locked, and it is a good idea to secure the pram with the strap available for this purpose on the bus/Letbanen. The child can remain in the pram during the journey, provided it is strapped in. In this situation, you are required to remain with the pram for safety reasons.

Only prams, pushchairs and mobility walkers used for personal transport may be taken on buses and trains. It is not permitted to have more children in the pram than it is designed to carry.

There is usually space for max. two prams or one wheelchair on a bus. The driver can refuse to take a pram, pushchair or mobility walker if space on the bus is limited. The driver’s decision is final.

If you want to take a pram, pushchair or mobility walker with you, you must be able to lift it onto the bus yourself. The driver is unable to provide assistance.

On Letbanen, prams, pushchairs and mobility walkers must be parked in the designated flex areas.

If relevant, refer to the section on wheelchairs

Bicycles (incl. electric bicycles and folding bicycles) and scooters

General rules on the bus

For a charge, you can take your bicycle (incl. electric bicycles and folding bicycles) on many Midttrafik buses*), provided there is space.

Bicycles can be taken on the city buses – except in Aarhus – outside rush hour (07:00-08:30 and 15:00-17:00). The bicycle should be placed (at your own risk) in the flex area in the middle of the bus, where there are straps for securing it.  There is space for max. two bicycles on each bus. It is important that boarding and disembarkation are not inconvenienced in any way. The space is shared with prams, wheelchairs etc. on a first-come, first-served basis. If the space is taken, you will need to wait for the next bus. The driver’s decision is final.

Most regional buses*) take bicycles, which are placed in the baggage compartment. You should expect to have to lift the bicycle into the baggage compartment yourself.

From 26 June 2022, bicycles can be taken free of charge on the articulated buses on route 100 as a pilot trial.

It is not possible to reserve space for your bicycle. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take three-wheeled adult bikes, cycle trucks, freight bikes, bicycle trailers etc. on the bus as they take up too much space.

*) Please note that it is not possible to take bicycles on Aarhus city buses, on the airport buses 912X/Billund and 925X/Tirstrup, or on routes which are served by buses with low boarding and which do not have a baggage compartment. Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide information on which departures are served by low-floor buses, as it can change.

In addition, it is not possible to take bicycles on routes 86, 87 and 89, which provide a substitute service in the event of long-term disruptions to Letbanen.

Electric bicycles

If you want to take an electric bicycle with you, you must – on account of the bicycle’s weight – remove the battery before the bus arrives.

Payment

You must buy a bicycle ticket if you want to take your bicycle (incl. electric bicycles and folding bicycles) with you on the bus. The ticket is valid for the entire journey (including transfer), provided you have a valid ticket or card for the trip.

If you purchase a new ticket when transferring from one bus to another (for example for a return trip or when transferring from train to bus), you will also need to renew your bicycle ticket.

Bicycle tickets can be purchased using the Midttrafik app or from the driver. It is not possible to use multi trip tickets. You can also check in a bicycle on your Rejsekort via the driver. You can buy a ‘Rejsekort Flex’ or a ‘Rejsekort Anonymt’ with customer type ‘Bicycle’ if you need a special travel card for your bike. For prices, visit rejsekort.dk

You cannot use bicycle tickets issued by DSB/Arriva on buses or on Letbanen.

You cannot use Midttrafik bicycle tickets for train journeys (DSB, Arriva). Here, DSB’s and Arriva’s rules apply.

In other words, you can take a scooter with you against payment on regional buses, city buses (except in Aarhus) and on Letbanen (except during rush hour). Scooters/e-scooters may be taken free of charge on Midtjyske Jernbaner trains.

Foldable scooters/e-scooters can be carried free of charge on the bus as normal baggage. The maximum dimensions for scooters are 30 x 60 x 100 cm. Children’s kick scooters can be taken on board as baggage as long as it does not inconvenience other passengers.
